#OpenState17 Lift Off
The Open State Festival for 2017 launched last night by the Premier of South Australia, Jay Weatherill MP, in this year’s new location, “Adelaide’s square mile”, Victoria Square.
Open State’s purpose is to connect global and local leaders with South Australians, to explore new opportunities and address our state’s challenges together. This year promises to move ideas into action at every level – it is an invitation to co-create our future. Open State is a festival of collaboration, innovation, ideas and enterprise hoping to inspire new thinking and action across these six themes: future food, future human, future cities, future planet, future enterprise and future democracy.
The program offers a broad spectrum of events that will appeal to South Australian public sector employees from all walks of life with discussions ranging from granular to universal.
IPAA SA is involved in two events this year exploring #futuredemocracy – requiring us to address global issues and how to find new ways to work together. You can catch us on October 3rd at the Open State Hub where international speaker Beth Novak, Co-Founder and Director of The GovLab will share her international perspective of how technology can strengthen democracy to meet citizens’ needs more simply, quickly and efficiently.
Two days later, October 5th, we will be at the Open State Dome discovering mechanisms to facilitate democracy in the disability sector and community with Olympian and gold medal paracanoeist, Jocelyn Neumueller.
We hope to see you around the Open State Festival from now until October 8th. Visit openstate.com.au for all the exciting events and guest speakers.
